Loss of magnets
Infection in the uterus
Limited effectiveness (returning to heat sooner than desired)
No improvement in behavior if issues are unrelated to being in heat
The Process
Initial Appointment:
Conducted at Dells Equine Vet Clinic, with no facility use fee.
Discuss the owner's concerns and goals.
Evaluate the mare through a physical exam and ultrasound of the uterus.
Insert the magnets, ideally two to four days after the mare goes out of heat. The mare must have had at least one heat cycle in the season for the magnets to be effective.
Follow-Up Appointment:
One month after placement of magnets.
Ultrasound of the uterus to confirm the magnets are in place and there are no adverse reactions.
Removal Appointment:
Five to seven months after placement.
Owner Responsibilities
Pay a $150 deposit to have their kit ordered.
Pay the balance of $225 at the first appointment.
Complete an Owner Observation Form.
Participate in all three appointments.
Provide a statement regarding their experience to help Dells Equine Veterinary Services better understand the efficacy of the service.
2025 Introductory Offer
No clinic haul-in costs for these appointments. Normal on-farm service costs apply for the second and third appointments.
Discounted package price of $375 + on-farm service costs for the second and third appointments in 2025. This price reflects a 50% discount of the full value of the products and services associated.
Additional Costs
Any additional appointments or treatments for complications will be billed at 50% off normal Dells Equine Vet Services pricing.
If it is determined at the initial appointment that the mare is not a good candidate for the Pearl Pod Intra-Uterine Magnets, the only cost will be the $150 deposit already paid.
How to Get Started
Express Interest: Call Dells Equine Vet Services at 608-844-9833.
Pay Deposit: After the $150 deposit has been paid, a kit will be ordered for your mare.
Monitor Behavior: Begin monitoring and recording the mare’s heat behaviors/dates immediately.
Schedule Evaluation: Call when your mare is in heat to schedule the evaluation/insertion appointment.
Assessment/Evaluation Appointment: Ideally held two to four days after your mare goes out of heat. The remaining balance ($225) will be due at this first appointment.
Follow-Up Ultrasound: One month later to ensure there are no complications.
Removal Appointment: Five to seven months after placement.
